Wrought iron lasts so long it is not unusual to see it passed down from generation to generation. High quality wrought iron has a rust preventing undercoat applied to it before it gets its final color coat. Unfortunately, even the best protected wrought iron will eventually rust. Occasional touch-ups and painting will make it look new. When used around a pool, expect to touch up wrought iron yearly.
